![]() | I awoke at 6am with the sun shining through the curtains and the sound of the seagulls squawking outside. My first thought was what a great day for a club cruise and VW show followed by thoughts of how lucky I am to be able to garage my Bug thus avoiding luftwaffe style bombings from the shi*hawks as we call them on Portland. James met us (Me and Lucy) at ours and we set off as soon as possible destined for Dorchester Halfords car park to meet the rest of the gang. We stopped in a layby as James was flashing his lights at us and got out. He wanted to get fuel for his Peugeot 106 ..hmmmm! I remarked how nice the weather was and how great my Bug was running etc as we returned to our cars to find that he had locked himself out with the engine still running. Bugger! Or words to that fashion were used so out with the roadside assistance card. James was keen for us to carry on without him and meet up with the others so we did just that. On arrival at Halfords we were greeted by everyone, told the tale of James woe and set off in the 10 car convoy which was mostly made up of Bays with Mike (Notch) and Me (Oval) as the exceptions. Nigel did well setting the pace and finding the show with no mishaps or breakdowns on the way and even James managed to catch us up. |

On arrival at the show the lowriders amongst us were greeted with a very difficult entry to the parking field but I think the only casualtys were Pete & Kerrys Bay with some damage to side step and Me with a curb feeler ripped off, bent number plate and dented spare wheel scuttle which I would like to add contained a spare for once!!! | |

The show was really good and super laid back which is a big thumbs up in our opinion. There was a range of cars including rats, rods, splits, bays, bugs, syncros, the odd type 3 and lots of new T4 Vans which I enjoyed seeing as I own one too. The weather was great and we will be going next year for sure. We finished the day off with a cruise to Bournemouth Classic Cars on the Prom and Ice cream! Top day out and thanks for the Baby Manual.
