My first car was a 1973 1303S Beetle which was given to me by my brother.

Years later I was walking home from the pub all happy and fuzzy eyed and I spotted a very nice 1969 1300 Deluxe with a for sale sign in the windscreen.

The next day I bought it, a few weeks later I sold my Reno Clio, and here I am back in the VW fold.

I’ve never been in to giving any car I have owned a name, so I won’t start now. As I have written, my car is a 1969 Beetle in red ( I am still attempting to find the exact colour without any luck. I have whittled it down to either Royal Red or Poppy Red).

The engine is 1285cc and I am very happy to have traded speed for style. I am constantly on the look out for bugs and campers so I can give the driver of the other VW the famous ‘VW Wave’. I remember this from when I owned my first Beetle, so presume this has not been forgotten or abandoned.

My car has no modifications, as I feel that this would be sacrilege.
